It has been a torrid start to 2026 - there’s lots going on at accordingto. We wanted to take this opportunity to give a little update to our audience. We started the site back in October, the first pod launched later that same month.
According to our Google analytics, In 2025 we had over 1000 active users, and hundreds of podcast streams. It’s a big milestone because when you reward us with your clicks and your time it shows us we have your support. It encourages us to continue to grow and to keep going.
We try to end our podcast with a call to action, which is to get you the listener to share, subscribe, download, etc. It really does make a difference, especially while a project like this is still in its infancy.
We tried a brief stint with Tik Tok - and over 30 thousand hits on Tik tok before getting banned for who knows why. We’ve also been banned from advertising on Reddit - which is something I attempted as a pilot project.
As a matter of fact, whenever I try to get articles posted onto Reddit, it’s typically blocked for solicitation. So, perhaps you, the reader/listener could share these posts into relevant subreddits if that is an online space you hang around in.
Getting off the ground is extremely difficult. So your support matters.
It all helps, and it is working. Where I used to be the kind of person who would check my stock portfolio several times a day, I have changed the behaviour to be refreshing the analytics page. I love when the reports come in.
Here are some specific insights to the analytics:In 2025, the lion’s share of website visits were from Canada and the United States, but we also have a significant amount of readers and listeners in Europe. We have active users in Spain, Italy, and the UK. We’re also picking up a little bit of traction in South America. Those countries include Brazil, Paraguay, and Venezuela to name a few. Finally we have subscribers coming from Asia: Places like Israel, South Korea, and the Philippines. 27 countries in total were listed as having active users. It brings me great joy. So thank you so much for tuning in and for reading.
I’m seriously hoping that 2026 is a year of growth. I’m hoping that accordingto becomes a more regular fixture in your life, and slowly begins to carve out a niche in the kaleidoscope of how you consume media and content.
Moving forward, I want to emphasize, we are looking for new contributors. My goal is to have a roster of 25 new opinionists on the site by the end of the year.
I’m interested in Canadian politics and identity, global affairs, and sports so that’s what I write about. Kyle Brill is interested in Real Estate so that’s where his articles focus. If you feel like you have something to say, but nowhere to say it, please get in touch. We want to hear from you.
If you’ve got a substack, and want to either build your readership, or migrate off the platform and join a team. Then let’s have a conversation.
We began accordingto to rest restore the missing middle. It always had a secondary angle however which is to act as the semipro league for opinion writers. Think of it like AAA baseball or being off Broadway.
It’s hard to put yourself out there. I was nervous for example when I first got published. I got over it though, because I figured that worst case - no one would read it. So take a chance, we will help you bring your voice to the site.
Before we end, we wanted to make a little note about our AI policy. Personally, I like to avoid AI, and we ask our contributors to limit their usage. AI shouldn’t be writing your stuff. It can be there to help correct sentence structure, or spell check. For what it’s worth, I’ve been told that some of our readers are using AI checkers now to see if we are legit. So that’s pretty neat.
Finally on some new business, there are comments now enabled in all articles moving forward. So get in on the discussion if you’d like - and please behave. We are a volunteer shop at this time, and moderation is light.
Here’s to a wonderful 2026 filled with amazing contributors like Kyle, as well as Victoria Vali, and Miri Teich who penned articles this week on Iran, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Victoria’s article is heartfelt and powerful. Miri is the kind of person who has both an Israeli & a Palestinian flag in her Instagram bio - so I thought who better than to share a perspective about nuance.
Check them out if you haven’t yet, we are very much looking forward to their next pieces.
Thank you again for your support, it is so meaningful.
