This Author speaks of Bradford's "character," but the sheer amount of hand waving of Bradford's actual record in this post is staggering:

Author's statement: "He wants to hire more cops, and set up an actual positive alliance with the law enforcement in town."

Brad's words in 2020: https://bradbradford.ca/an-updated-statement-on-anti-black-racism-and-the-toronto-police-service-budget/

Author's statement: "He also understands that Canada is cold half the year and our cities are built and designed around cars. We can’t simply ignore that fact and pretend like all of our people can bike their kids to hockey practice in -10 degree weather."

Brad's words: "This is a city which rides bike 12 months a year!" https://bsky.app/profile/thebikinglawyer.bsky.social/post/3msvadzqiws2l

Not sure how this author defines "character," but I sure as heck don't define it as someone with consistently shifting positions depending on which way the wind blows!

Thanks for reading, Adam!

I think it’s important that a candidate or politician can evolve their thinking over 6 years.

Circumstances in Toronto are vastly different than they were.

This is why ideology can’t rule politics and decision making.

What you see a “evolving their thinking” I see as a cynical calculus from a feckless politician with endless ambition who will literally do or say anything to be elected. When a person runs as one thing and then does a complete 180 5-years later I have no faith they won’t do the same thing when they are Mayor. For example, I don’t support Councillor Stephen Holyday’s positions, but he has had a logically consistant political position throughout his career whereas Bradford is literally doing and saying the exact opposite of what he was in 2020.

Fair enough, though then you ought to be disavowing the mayor on her changing stances as well right?

Oh, I am not happy with the current Mayor for decisions like the Gardiner Expressway, and Ontario Place that’s for sure and, just like Bradford, she should be called out for not following up on her promises. I will say we all have choose to accept a politician “warts and all” at some point and we likely just have different ways of defining this. Anyway, thanks for engaging!
